Becon Hill State Competitiveness Index 2007
- this is an interesting report that evaluates where a state stands in a number of key areas. For example, positions of advantage for Utah include its high bond rating (#1), budget surplus as a percent of gross state product (#2), infrastructure subindex (#2), science and engineering degrees awarded per 100,000 inhabitants (#4), % of Pop. Enrolled in Degree-Granting Institutions (#2), overall finance subindex (#4). The one category where Utah ended up in the bottom 10? Rate of Nonfederal Pysicians per 100,000 inhabitants (#41).

Utah also ranked #1 in the American Legislative Exchange Council's annual competitiveness evaluation.
